One question we hear a lot here at Pragma Bed is ‘What’s the difference between your quad-folding and bi-folding bed frames?’ There’s an easy answer to that: There isn’t one. Well, when they are set up, anyway.

When the bed frames are folded up and ready to be stored, there is only one difference. That difference is how the bed frame folds. Our bi-fold model folds only once–in half.

Bi-Foldable Bed Frame

Our quad-fold model, by comparison, folds in half, then half again. This explains why the quad-fold has no center leg braces, as these would interfere with how the frame folds; this is also why there is a gap in the center of the frame.

Quad-Foldable Bed Frame

If you’ve looked through our website, you’ve learned about the many benefits to owning a Pragma Bed bed frame. It can be a convenient guest bed, an underbed storage space, and even a money-saver. But did you know that the Pragma Bed can also be good for your health?

That’s right—since you don’t need to use a traditional box spring with your Pragma Bed, you are actually reducing your exposure to disgusting bed bugs! Hundreds, sometimes even thousands of bed bugs can live in your old box spring. As a 2008 article from the University of Kentucky puts it, “Box springs afford many places for bed bugs to hide, especially underneath where the fabric is stapled to the wooden frame.” Read the article here: http://www.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef636.asp

Bed bugs are sensitive to sunlight and thus only come out at night…when you’re fast asleep! They feed off of human blood. Bed bug bites can irritate the skin and cause itchy, uncomfortable rashes that last for days.

Ew - Photo Courtesy of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln

Your problems are just beginning when you discover you have a bed bug infestation. You could try an expensive chemical treatment to get rid of the bed bugs; however, these toxic chemicals may not completely solve the problem. Many people who find their beds infested by bed bugs have to throw out both their box springs and mattresses, which can cost hundreds, even thousands of dollars! Instead of throwing all that money out the window, why not take steps to keep bed bugs out of your life?

With a Pragma Bed bed frame, you needn’t worry about bed bugs living in your bed foundation. Our bed frames are made from solid powder-coated steel, so no bed bugs can penetrate or live in them. By eliminating your box spring and using a Pragma Bed you are taking a big step toward a healthier sleeping environment.

At Pragma Bed, we pride ourselves on providing the most useful and innovative products on the market. We’ve received a lot of feedback from our customers requesting a way to attach headboards and footboards to their Pragma Beds. Therefore, we’re pleased to announce we are now offering headboard and footboard brackets!

Our brackets are made of heavy-gauge steel, unlike many other head- and footboard attachments. They can be attached in a matter of minutes, using only the most basic tools.

Steel bracket for headboard or footboard

To attach the bracket to your Pragma Bed bedframe, line up the slots at the top of the bracket with the holes in the bedframe. Take two of the shorter bolts provided and screw them in place, using a wench to tighten each bolt (see photo). The black stoppers provided go on the end of each bolt. The two longer bolts are for attaching your head- or footboard to your Pragma Bed bedframe.

Interested in learning more about our new Pragma Bed brackets? Send us an e-mail today at mail@pragmabed.com!

Not Pragma Bed users! The Pragma Bed bed frame doesn’t require a box spring, which is a huge help if you’re trying to move a bed–or want to save some cash. Our bed frames also sit high enough off the ground (14″) that you don’t need a box spring to get some added height.

Also, have you ever tried moving a box spring? It’s not fun. Here at Pragma Bed, we believe that the only kind of move is a quick and easy one. So, leave that old box spring behind and move into your new home with a Pragma Bed.

Of course, if you just can’t part with your beloved bulky foundation, you can still use it with our Pragma Bed bed frames. It will just give your bed some added height.
